Maenads Zine

Critters & Gods is an irregularly produced pamphlet featuring obscure creatures from mythology and fiction. In this issue, nine artists have offered their interpretations of the mythological Maenads.

The Maenads were the female devotees of Bacchus. They were notorious partiers with a very dark side. In tales of the Maenads, their revelry often degraded into wild orgies, feats of supernatural strength, grisly sacrifice, and murder. These figures of unrestrained ecstasy and femininity are depicted in this issue both beautifully and grotesquely by artists from all over the world.
